Do you do gas work and boilers?
Gas appliance work, including boiler installation and servicing, must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Our own plumbing work covers wet pipework, radiators, bathrooms, kitchens and drainage. Where a job needs gas work we will tell you plainly and make sure it is done by a registered engineer rather than working around it. Ask us when you call and we will explain exactly how your job would be handled.
Can you move a radiator?
Yes, and it is a common request in a kitchen or bathroom refit where the radiator is in the way of the layout you want. The pipework is rerun to the new position, and where floors are up as part of the job it is a straightforward piece of work. We can also swap a radiator for a plinth heater or a vertical radiator where wall space is tight.
Our house has old pipework, is that a problem?
It is common in older Kent housing stock and it is worth knowing about before work starts. Old iron waste, lead supply pipe and microbore heating pipework all still turn up. We will tell you what you have when we survey, what needs replacing now and what can reasonably be left, rather than either ignoring it or insisting on replacing everything.
Can you find and fix a leak?
Yes. Tracing a leak properly means finding the actual source rather than the place the water appears, which is often somewhere else entirely. Because we do the building work too, we can open up, repair and make good afterwards as one job, which is usually where a leak repair becomes awkward when a plumber and a builder are two separate calls.
Do you handle drainage as well as supply?
Yes. Waste runs, soil pipe alterations, gullies, and new drainage for extensions and bathrooms are all part of it. Getting the fall right on waste pipework is the difference between a system that drains and one that blocks repeatedly, and it needs setting out at first fix rather than corrected afterwards.
Is it cheaper to have plumbing done with the building work?
Almost always, because the floors and walls are already open. Running new pipework while a bathroom is stripped out or a floor is up costs a fraction of doing the same work later, when it means lifting finished flooring and chasing finished walls. If you are planning work, it is worth telling us everything you might want doing so it can be allowed for while access is easy.
